Dog Language: Bridging the Gap of Communication

As a dog owner, it is important to understand your dog language. Dogs or any other animals have different language of their own. Don’t expect that they will understand what you say no matter how clearly you said it. If you want to understand your dog and vice versa, you have to know how to do the talking.

First thing to know is you have to say what you want straight to the point. No long lines and too much talking. Dogs don’t have the ability to understand human language and yet most dog owner forgot this common knowledge.

Next thing to remember is your choice of words. It is better to use words that you frequently say when you talk to your dog. No alteration of words for every command. That is very important for the dog not to be confused.

Third and the most important is the tone of your voice. Your tone of voice will help your dog distinguish your emotion—whether you’re angry or not. It is also helpful in teaching tricks. Lastly, is to understand the body language of your dog. In order to do so, you must observe carefully every action your canine makes under various circumstances. This is the best method to know and understand your dog as well as any other pet.

Establishing a good relationship between you and your canine is a little bit tiring but can be rewarding as well. Nothing can compare than having a dog companion. Men and canines have been together for many centuries; this connection will persist as their understanding of each other grows.

Dogs are dogs no matter how you like them be like you. I know sometimes you treat your dog like humans as they are part of your family. Out of consciousness you forgot that they are still domesticated animals that don’t have human understanding. So don’t expect too much from them even they are well trained and well behaved because they have still an animal nature in them.

Not all your words are understands by your dog and not all your command are obeyed, so what if they make mistakes sometimes. What matters is you correct it the right way. Don’t be over protected and strict to your pet dog. Let him be a dog that has freedom.

Dogs are naturally playful and full of energy and sometimes if you’re not an active pet parent, like walking your dog a couple times a day would make them run and play inside your house or backyard like crazy. If you don’t want havoc inside your house why not let them play in your backyard. You can even play with them and you will be surprise how enjoying it is to bond with your dog. You can even make it as an exercise as well.

You can also make them use their natural talent. For example if you have a terrier dog known for being an expert hunter and digger; you can train him if you are in the hobby of hunting. While digging might bring a problem, understand that it is in their nature so be patient and teach him not to dig in your backyard. In these ways you are not taking away your dog freedom and his purpose other than just being a pet and companion. It will make your relationship even healthier.

Simple Ways to Better Understand Your Pet Dog

Applying human thoughts on your dog is a big no, no though I am guilty with it as well. The love and care that I give to my dogs and treating them as part of family makes me forget that they are still animals only domesticated and not humans that can understand my human thoughts and language. Sometimes I find myself talking to them as if they are my same species that have capabilities to understand every bit of words I’m saying. I don’t say they don’t understand us, they do but in different way.

They don’t have logical thinking, they act base on their instinct. Why not try to imagine how dogs will react in certain circumstances. This will give you insights on how they might react and make possible correction if necessary. You will learn a lot as well by observing your dog social life, doings and behavior at some situations. You will know what they fear at, their needs, their approached towards other animals and humans and most of all what their body language says. Hope With these simple ways to understand your pet dog would have a positive results on your relation to your dog.

A Dogs Social Life

If you think dogs don’t need socializing, you are dead wrong. Socializing is the very first thing that educates puppies and greatly affects their behavior.

Dogs that are given the chance to socialize at a young age are well adapted in their same species and importantly they are well behaved.

Socializing with other dogs develops self esteem and self confidence in your dog that are vital to have a well mannered dog. There are classes that you can enroll you puppy or even adult dog to correct bad behavior.

If your in a tight budget or don’t have extra time to attend classes with you pup like me, walking your dog in park everyday and get him meet other pups as well in the park is a great way to get him socialize with dogs and humans too.
